Superb fly fishing that's more than big fish bt Thomas Carter

Just a note to say thanks to everyone at El Encuentro for another fine fishing adventure. Friends here ask us why we travel so far to fish when we have rivers like the Henry’s Fork, the Madison, and the Yellowstone in our backyard. Part of it lies with the lodge itself, which substitutes comfort and sociability for architectural pretension. It’s sort of like home, with bedrooms off the living and dining rooms, except of course here you look out over the Futaleufu River and the stunning Throne of the Clouds Mountain.

El Encuentro Fly Fishing, located along the spine of the Andes Mountains in Patagonia, Argentina, offers some of the best fly fishing in the world for trophy brook, brown, and rainbow trout. But a trip to Argentina wouldn't be complete without plenty of mate tea and good times.

Fall Fishing Report

It was a busy 2015/2016 season at El Encuentro, but it finished strong—we had some wonderful fishing in late March, with beautiful days in the 70s and some really nice fish caught by our guests including some rainbows reaching over ten pounds! The water was low after a dry summer, but overall the conditions held up nicely.

Spring Fishing

The spring of 2015 offered some terrific fishing for our guests. Travelers Bill and Pam Bryan enjoyed some terrific streamer fishing, landing a good number of healthy browns and rainbows. They also caught some good-sized brookies, which Bill, as a native of Maine (USA) where brookies are popular -- but not often large -- particularly enjoyed.

Early season can really be a great time to visit Argentina, with the rugged beauty of snow on the mountains and grasses just starting to green up. It's a terrific time of year for wildlife viewing as well.
