Estancia Tecka Lodge

Rio Corcovado and Rio Tecka Area • Argentine Patagonia

Estancia Tecka Lodge offers an array of fishing opportunities across its vast 435,000 acres of a historic sheep and cattle ranch. Many years ago, the Beale family helped develop the fishing program for the owners of the estancia. Now Tecka runs its own program, to which we are happy to refer our guests.

The Rio Corcovado, which flows past El Encuentro’s Brook Trout Base Camp, continues its long flow meandering across the broad swath of Estancia Tecka’s property, offering many productive beats. The Estancia is also home to Rio Tecka, a beautiful spring creek as well as several smaller spring creeks and lakes.

There are two different accommodations comprising Estancia Tecka Lodge: Headquarters Lodge near the Rio Tecka, and Caridad Lodge in the center of the ranch, overlooking the valley of the Rio Corcovado. Headquarters Lodge was the original Estancia home, dating back to the 1920s. It has four rooms, each with a private bath, living room, and dining room, exuding a traditional estancia character. The Caridad Lodge was built to host anglers. It has a total of eight bedrooms — six in the main lodge and two in an adjoining Annex. Every room has a private bath. Set in the center of the estancia, Caridad offers sweeping views of the rolling countryside with the Andes as a stunning backdrop.

The Fishing at Estancia Tecka

With over 90 miles of private trout water, there are opportunities for all interests and preferences. Brook trout, rainbow, and brown trout are all found in the waters of the Estancia. The Rio Corcovado offers several different float trips that give an angler plenty of chances to ply its productive waters. For those who prefer to walk wade, the Rio Tecka is ideal. It is a dry fly angler’s dream with large trout lurking beneath the banks and in the deeper pools. Some smaller spring creeks offer additional challenges. A couple of lakes hold trophy-sized rainbows.

Estancia Tecka Lodge season runs from the first of November through April. Week-long stays run from Saturday to Saturday. Tecka Estancia Lodge can be combined with a week with El Encuentro.

“The Rio Tecka was an absolute delight with surprisingly big fish hiding in pools. We also loved float fishing the much bigger Rio Corcovado with its very plentiful fishery and many chances to see guanacos, flamingos, and even a fox one day. This is an amazing place.”
