Thoughts from Steve Jensen on his guests´ adventure

As the owner of a family of fly fishing lodges in Alaska, one of my primary goals is to provide our guests with a great variety of fishing experiences each time they come up to visit one of our operations.  This is why I have fallen in love with El Encuentro Lodge in Patagonia, Argentina.

I host international fly fishing adventures through my Wild on The Fly Adventure Travel company.  It is important to me to know that when I am taking a group of fly fishers on an adventure, that they are going to be thrilled with what they experience.  A few years back I visited El Encuentro Lodge and found not only an amazing fishery and amazing lodges but a group of people that are so fun to be around but also determined to help you have a most special experience.  I have been back with my own guests every year since.

One of the unique aspects of a visit to El Encuentro Lodge is that you have the opportunity to stay and fish in three completely distinct areas, each with their own amazing lodge.  El Encuentro Lodge is located on the banks of The Futaleafu River or Rio Grande as they call it.  This is a wonderfully reliable fishery whether you are throwing streamers or working the riffles and edges with dries.  The Brook Trout Base Camp is a very special place high in the mountains where you have a chance to catch Brook Trout well over 20 inches and Rainbows in the 30s.  The Valle Del Carrileafu Lodge is in a completely separate, beautiful fishery and offers several additional rivers and lakes to explore.

This ability to move us to three separate fisheries, never losing a day of fishing to travel because we fish our way to the new location, is one of the principal reasons that the guests in my groups have enjoyed the El Encuentro Lodge experience so much.  We travel down and spend 10 nights and get 10 full days of fishing. It is so nice to see so much new water day after day when you have traveled so far to fish.

I highly recommend this wonderful experience.
